Series packaging design involves establishing a unified design standard for all product packaging, creating a cohesive series of colors, graphics, words, and decorative patterns. The challenge lies in maintaining the brand's general character while highlighting the unique personality of each product. Tianzi Sheng's innovative solution was the "visual element labeling method". This method involves selecting a design framework and visual elements based on the design requirements and then outputting the design.
The labeling method is used to analyze, organize, and think about a large number of design resources. This approach helps to identify customer needs and design goals promptly. The design framework includes "subject, supporting graphics, decorative patterns, fonts, masking, and color background", and a thematic visual element library for Bestore.
The project, which started in October 2017 in Beijing and concluded in May 2018, was exhibited at the Tsinghua University Art Museum in June 2018. The packaging design measures 174mm in width, 266mm in height, and 80mm in depth for each package. The design uses 3D effects with food images to create a unique packaging experience.
Bestore has a large variety of snacks, and its products are constantly updated. The challenge was to create a design method that not only formulates a unified design specification for all packaging but also highlights the characteristics of each product. The solution was the visual element labeling method, which was a new approach to series packaging design.
